We are pleased to announce that a selection of scenes and songs from "the Suffragist" a brand new musical about the final push to pass and ratify the 19th Amendment will be performed Friday, March 8 at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center on the campus of University of Northern Iowa.
Gallagher Bluedorn is a 1,600 seat Broadway touring house that will also be home to our full 2020 production, featuring a cast of students, locals, and professionals - we are currently working to hire a Tony-nominated actress to play the lead role of Alice Paul.
Our concert staging of scenes and songs has been included in Theatre Cedar Rapids' "Beyond the Stage" series. These events are all organized around the theme of "She Is Fierce," a campaign of female empowerment that ties into their productions of "Shakespeare in Love" and "Ada and the Memory Engine."
Considering that there are far too few female-driven musicals, we are so excited to be putting fierce women on the stage, and grateful that TCR has chosen to highlight our work.
