REVISED AUDITION PROCESS
In the interest of the health and safety of those who wish to audition for the World Premiere of The Suffragist, the audition panel has decided to move to an entirely electronic submission process. While the situation with the virus changes day by day, at this moment, we are still planning to present the premiere as scheduled.
Some requirements are the same. Please see bolded information that indicates either a change in the process or specific information about the rehearsal schedule.
The production seeks performers of all genders. All performers must be 18 years or older.
The following principal roles are available: Lucy Burns, Inez Milholland, Ida B. Wells, Anna Howard Shaw, Woodrow Wilson and Doctor. Additionally, the production seeks to cast a 20-person ensemble, with many featured roles available for ensemble members.
Rehearsals will begin on May 15, and the first performance is on June 5. The weekend of May 15 will be an intensive series of music rehearsals for the ensemble and the characters listed above. However, the “call” will be very specific, so individuals will know how much of the weekend they will need to be present. Although rehearsals during the week will begin at 2 p.m., the production staff is aware that many/most people will have work responsibilities and cannot arrive at that time. The rehearsals for the ensemble will be scheduled accordingly, with most beginning at 6 p.m. And ending at 10 p.m. The director and musical director will schedule rehearsals to accommodate conflicts.
Auditionees are asked to submit two recordings, both of which can be uploaded to Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/ ) or Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/ ). For information on how to upload a video to youtube, see the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua3AW6RVv64 . Additionally, video files can be sent via google drive or attached to your email.
The first recording is a singing audition: this could be an existing video or a newly made video. This should be a 32-measure musical theater excerpt which best demonstrates your range, technique and ability to communicate the text of the song.
The second recording is a reading audition: Please view the PDF’s below to select a side that best shows your skills. Find someone to read with you and record.
Once you have the two videos uploaded to youtube or vimeo, use the following email address to submit your materials: firstname.lastname@example.org In addition to the two recordings, please also attach a completed audition form, and a headshot or other photo of yourself. Note that you are able to list rehearsal conflicts on the audition form.
ALL AUDITION MATERIALS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE ABOVE EMAIL ADDRESS NO LATER THAN APRIL 5, 2020 AT 6 P.M. CDT. IF YOU CAN SUBMIT THEM EARLIER, PLEASE DO SO.
We thank you very much for your interest in our show, and we look forward to hearing and seeing you electronically!
